Our Telephones are Haunted (or else crazy)

Strangeness:
I woke up on Saturday night/Sunday morning at 3:30 a.m. to the sound of my cell phone ringing. This, of course, terrified me. There aren't that many people out there who have my number beyond family and very close friends so of course, I assumed something was very wrong with someone I loved. Not the case, thank God. No, this was the case: M's cell phone, sitting on the dining room table, charging, had LOST it and was dialing and redialing my cell phone over and over. Essentially, even though M was inside asleep, his cell phone was crank calling me at3:30 a.m. I checked all five messages that had been left. They were all empty. In the last one, I could here me walking across the room to check my phone.
I couldn't figure out how to just turn off my ringer, so I turned off the phone completely. In the morning, there were 7 more. SEVEN!
It hasn't happened since. We'll see what's next.

I blame aliens. Aliens are the source of most of our unexplained troubles. You should cover your windows with tin foil and wear an aluminum colander on your head at all times!

One time in the middle of the night we got a call from the police dispatcher...she asked if everything was ok, because someone had just called them. I explained to her that we were fine and no body had called. She informed me that they had to have someone come to our home...and the officer would be arriving in a couple of moments. I shook my husband to wake up and told him to get dressed the police were coming. He had no clue what was going on. In about 30 seconds the door was being knocked on. We went down and answered the door. The officer was very intent on looking into my eyes and making sure I was ok. We kept reassuring him we were ok. It was a really weird feeling. He left and I went to the bathroom before climbing back into bed. I looked at myself in the mirror and I had mascara all over under my eyes...no wonder he wasn't so sure. Ugh...don't go to bed without washing your face. :) My husband was talking to an officer friend of his later telling him about this...and the guy told him that it actually happens quite frequently with homes that have cordless phones. CrAzY! Phone ringing in the middle of the night...will always freak me out!

thanks for stopping by my blog! :)

Defnitely possessed. Did his cell phone leave messages saying in a whispery voice, "Ge-e-e-e-t ou-ou-ou-ou-t-t-t"?

XUP, indeed I do believe Alien Foulplay is at the heart of this. and an aluminum colander would certainly look spectactular over my headscarf!
Stepping Out of the Boat, so I guess I'm actually just lucky that I didn't end up with the police at my door.
Citizen of the world, that's the thing. His phone says absolutely nothing. At least if you're going to call, leave a message, you know?

Sometimes I'd be sitting in the car with a friend I worked with and his phone would ring and he'd look at it and say: it's you calling. I'd have my phone in my hand showing that no outgoing call was being made or ever recorded. Then there'd be the annoying times I thought he was being impatient and hanging up before I had a chance to answer... We used to joke that our cells were having phone sex.
