That Sculpture Again
M explained to me a month ago what this sculpture represents; something about privileged ppl, wealthy ppl, getting access to everything, while the poor are in the back and don't even get their basic needs met. I need to ask him again because I don't remember exactly how it went. Anyway, last time I saw it, we were driving by and the picture came out blurry. This time Katherine and I were walking, so I stopped and took a whole bunch of pics from different angles. Here are some of my favourites...

I've loved that sculpture ever since it was first explained to me (guess by whom), though now that I think about it I realize that I'm going to have to ask for a re-explanation as well.
Personally, it usually reminds me of a song called "When I Look at the World" by U2, but I can't quite explain why. Maybe it's time I re-listened to that song as well.

More explanations (guess who's doing the explaining ;P) on what it's supposed to mean. From M's email:
"On what it's supposed to reflect, I think the statues in the front are supposed to be seeing some sort of light/idea (i think each person can interpret that 'light/idea' in his own way) and those who have access to it are captivated by it and through it they find peace. As you go back and people have less access to this force they start experiencing chaos and uncivility. When you get to the very back it's at it's very worst with famine, violence, and immorality."
And as for me, I realize now that I don't think I've ever heard "When I look at the World". I guess I'll have to look up the lyrics and see if it "matches" the sculpture...
